Wings Credit Union Foundation scholarships help 11 students pursue higher education, honor legacy of Trysh and Pete Olson

Additional support through the Trysh and Pete Olson Fund expands opportunities for students pursuing careers in aviation, education, engineering, healthcare, and more
APPLE VALLEY, Minn. – The Wings Credit Union Foundation expanded its annual scholarship program this year through additional funding provided in honor of Trysh and Pete Olson, helping 11 student members pursue higher education. This year, the Wings Foundation awarded $55,000 total in scholarships, of which $20,000 was made possible through the Trysh and Pete Olson Fund.
Trysh dedicated decades of service to Wings Credit Union where she oversaw youth and education programs, and she was highly respected throughout the credit union movement, serving as chair of the Credit Union Financial Education Network (CUFEN). Following the tragic loss of the Olsons last year, the fund was established to continue their commitment to helping others and creating opportunities for future generations.
"Our parents dedicated so much of their lives to serving others and strengthening the communities they loved," said Taylor and Lexi Olson, children of Trysh and Pete. "We are deeply thankful to see their legacy carried forward through these scholarships. It means so much to our family to know that students pursuing their dreams are being supported in their memory."
The 2026 scholarship recipients represent communities across the Midwest and beyond who are pursuing studies in aviation, biology, education, engineering, environmental science, health sciences, law, medicine, and music education.
"Scholarships can open doors that might otherwise be out of reach," said Annie Snead, Wings Credit Union vice president of community impact and Wings Foundation executive director. "We're honored to support these students as they pursue their goals, and we're especially proud that this year's scholarships also celebrate the lasting legacy, kindness, and generosity of the Olsons. Their commitment to helping others continues to make a difference for future generations."
For more than a decade, Wings has invested in scholarships to support members and strengthen communities. This year’s recipients were selected through a competitive application process open to Wings members pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. The winning students demonstrated academic achievement, leadership potential, community involvement, and a commitment to their future goals.
