Wings Credit Union Awards $10,000 Scholarship to University of St. Thomas Student

St. Paul, Minnesota – On Friday, October 24, 2025, Wings Credit Union awarded a $10,000 scholarship to a University of St. Thomas student, Alec McBane, for winning an on-ice contest at the Tommies men’s hockey game versus the Providence Friars. Alec successfully scored 10 goals from the center line to win his prize.

A native of Rochester, Minnesota, Alec is now a Junior studying Business Management. John Wagner, Senior Vice President – Member Experience, was present at the game and congratulated Alec on his prize. “Wings is so proud of our partnership with Tommie Sports. These scholarship contests are excellent opportunities to help us give back to the University of St. Thomas community and support higher education. Congratulations to Alec on the incredible performance!”

In addition to Alec’s exciting scholarship contest win, the Tommies tied with the Friars with a score of 2-2 at the inaugural Men’s Hockey game at the newly opened Lee & Penny Anderson Arena.
