Multi-level protection against overdrafts and missed payments.

It can happen to anyone: you make a payment or purchase, only to discover that your checking account is short. Typically, that would result in a declined payment, returned check or fee for non-sufficient funds. Wings Overdraft Services are designed to ensure timely payments and provide extra peace-of-mind.

1Overdraft Protection: Primary checking account owners have automatic overdraft protection from their primary Share Savings account. It can also be arranged from other accounts, included lines of credit. Transfers will occur once per day in an amount equal to the cumulative overdrafts for that day, up to the amount of available funds. Transfers occur the night after the overdrafts. There is no charge for these transfers
2Courtesy Pay: If there are insufficient funds in your linked Overdraft Protection accounts, Wings may cover transactions(excluding ATM and everyday debit card transactions) up to a predetermined limit. The limit is based on the primary account owner's account balance and transaction history. There is a $30 fee for transactions covered. See Schedule of Fees. You can unenroll from this service by updating your preference within digital banking, visiting a branch locations, or calling us at (800) 692-2274.
3Debit Card Courtesy Pay: If there are insufficient funds to cover an ATM or everyday debit card transaction at the time a debit transaction is authorized, Wings may approve the transaction up to a predetermined limit. The limit is based on the primary account owner's account balance and transaction history. There is a $30 fee for transactions covered/authorized. See Schedule of Fees. Enrollment in Debit Card Courtesy Pay is required. In order to be enrolled in this service, you must also be enrolled in Courtesy Pay.

 The Courtesy Pay fee will be waived for transactions under $10 and we may charge a maximum of four Courtesy Pay fees per day per account.

What is an overdraft?

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we authorize and pay it anyway.

What are the standard overdraft practices that come with my account?

You have overdraft protection from you Share Savings account. It can also be arranged from other accounts, including line of credit. Transfers will occur once per day in an amount equal to the cumulative overdrafts for that day, up to the amount of available funds. Transfers occur the night after the overdrafts,

In addition, if there are insufficient funds in your linked overdraft protection accounts, we may cover the following types of transactions (Courtesy Pay):
  • Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
  • Automatic bill payments (recurring debit card and ACH payments)
We DO NOT authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you ask us to (see below):
  • ATM Transactions
  • Everyday debit card transactions (one-time transactions)
We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means you do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. We typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or if you have too many overdrafts. In addition, we do not pay overdrafts on new accounts and if they primary account holder is under 18 years old.

If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.

You have 30 days to bring your account to a positive balance. However, Wings will discontinue covering items once an account has been negative for 20 days.

What fees will I be charged if Wings pays my overdraft?

Under our standard overdraft practices:
  • There is no charge for transfers from other tied accounts and lines of credit.
  • We will charge you a Courtesy Fee of up to $30 each time we pay an overdraft.
  • We will not charge a fee if the overdraft is for an item that is less than $10.
  • We may charge a maximum of 4 Courtesy Pay fess per day, per account.

What if I want Wings to authorize and pay overdrafts on my ATM and everyday debit card transactions?

If you also want us to authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions, you can sign up for Debit Card Courtesy Pay (currently called Overdraft Protection Plus) through Wings Digital Banking or in branch.
